May 19, 2003 Sunny Day Today the sun is actually shining. There is a bunny sitting in the grass outside my window. The bunny has a little friend bunny and sometimes they flop in the grass like little lumps. Once, as I was on my way out to somewhere, I noticed the bunnies sitting in the sun. Five hours later when I got home, the bunnies were still sitting there. Little creatures sitting still is a novelty to me right now. Here are mine jumping around at IKEA this weekend. See the staticky hair? They jumped around so much they worked up a charge. You'd think they'd never seen a big blueberry basket of balls before. Why was I at IKEA? Why looking for more storage space! Inspired by Kerstin's lovely Yarn Atelier, I thought I would buy another sweater bag to organize my works in progress. My idea is to use a cubby for each project and store the yarn, needles and pattern there. With only 8 cubbies per bag and only having one bag, that means I could only have 8 projects going at a time. Like I'd ever have 8 going at a time.... The only problem is I have nowhere to hang my new works in progress bag. My house was built in 1928 and apparently the builder didn't see the need for much closet space. We do have gargoyle cat in the kitchen though. And a speakeasy door in the stairwell: What's the password? Come in and we'll sit by the boiler and drink moonshine

May 04, 2003 Maryland Sheep and Wool After 2 hours of driving, here I am. Here's the view from where I parked. Where's the festival? Okay, after getting my bearings, I started my 10-minute trek down the hill, through the dusty grass, I felt bad for the people struggling with strollers. Been there! Lucky for me, Dave decide he wanted to spend the whole day with the kids so I could get out and focus on everything. I missed them while I was driving there and back, but once inside I had a great time. Couldn't resist buying Noel and Becky these little goodies though. Once I managed to arrive at the festival gate, I wandered around for a bit and then met up with Carolyn, who is one cool person! She introduced me to another knit blogger, Lou, who is an amazing knitter and spinner. I really enjoyed meeting both of you (and little Chloe too)! Let's talk about yarn! It's what you're waiting for, right? Wow, there were so many wonderful yarns and fibers that I was overwhelmed and didn't want to buy the first thing I saw. Bad plan! Should've got crazy from the get-go. Here's what I did buy. On the left is a small triangle scarf kit from Hunt Country Cashmere. While I was buying this kit (thanks to encouragement from Carolyn!), I looked up at their display and they had a red Cromarty knitted up all in cashmere. Imagine that! $$$$ Beautiful though. I'll stick with my teeny little triangle scarf for a pittance, thank you. Next, is a mitten kit in colors that I love, that Carolyn snagged for me. It's designed by Lucy Neatby. Hopefully I will get these knitted up to use this winter. Then, of course, the llama finger puppets are pictured. I also bought some Finn Sheep handspun yarn to swatch for Dave's sweater. It's silver grey and is soft and drapey. I think it's my favorite yarn ever in terms of texture, but the gauge I'm getting with it is 7 sts/in. Yikie! Perhaps not a contender for a Dave sweater. The yarn could be doubled, but then the cost of the garmet would be astronomical. Still, I think I will call the farm and order some more for something for Noel. This yarn is my favorite buy of the whole day. Not pictured is a wooden swift--to replace the plastic one that broke (well, sort of but not really broke, just a convenient excuse) last month. After this experience, I want more, so I'm hoping on going to another one--maybe the NY or one in MA. Or Vermont. There seem to be so many. We'll see! And here are the stars of the festival:
