Somebody keeps moving my stool.

this is my stool.JPG

See the knitting in the picture? The stuff Lucie is sitting on? That's Joy.

Well, I made the mistake of trying to take a picture of it on this stool, HER stool (apparently), which is in my kitchen, and Lucie, being not pleased with the situation, jumped up and sat there belligerently. When I asked her what was up, she gave me a blank look. "What?"

If that happy kid thinks he's getting my stool he's got another thing coming.

I'm doing more than just hanging out with that spindle full of green. Honest.

My future production spinners get acquainted with their tools.

sure they are smilin now muahahahha.JPG

Them: "Hey, take a picture of me with the spindle. MaMEE! Take a picture of me with the spindle! MOMMY. Take a picture of me with the spindle! Mommy? Take a picture of me with the spindle! I love the spindle! Mommy mommy? Take a picture of me with the spindle! Take a picture of me with the spindle!"
Me: "What do you say?" (sigh, but also amused by their interest in the spindle)
Them: "Uh...Please? Please!"

They think it's a toy. Of course they used to think sugar packets and toothpicks were toys too.

Not that I have a point. Just FYI, it's a slow day here!

"Not a finger!"

I finally took some time to finish spinning the yarn for the rest of these fingerless mittens because I am in dire need of some fingerless mittens come Winter. (Carolyn, what say you?)

The second skein of yarn was a little different spun up, but I can't really tell now that it's all knit up. Kind of makes me rethink all the energy I put into making exactly balanced yarns. Heck, why am I even bothering to ply at all? (Because it's fun! It's the best part!)

I like that they don't match. They sort of match in their unmatchedness. But then that means they match. But I don't like things to match.

Lace

I've been working on some lace lately in between all my sewing and whatnot. It's sort of addictive.

This is the Buffalo Girl neck thing (not a big fan of the name btw) from the most recent Interweave Knits. I've gotten all the knitting done and now the directions are directing me to crochet.

Guess this might sit around until I learn to crochet a little...

Ms B is Miss Bea

I actually finished it and she's actually wearing it.

PS: Look Ma, no hat!

Persuading her that the pockets were a great place to keep straws did the trick. Surprise! I was, pardon the expression, grasping at straws during my attempts to convince her to wear it, and found a straw conveniently sitting on the table. And before you know it I snapped up the straw and was waving it around and was saying, "LOOK! You can put a straw in the pocket."

Whoop de doo!

And before I realized it, she'd said, "Okay!"

I liked it so nice I knit it thrice

This is my progress on that Joy sweater from Kim Hargreaves. Imagine this piece all done and then me seeing I made a mistake 4 inches from the bottom. And remember, the title there says "thrice" so by deductive reasoning, you can figure that this almost successful attempt was already the second time I'd knit this piece!

Anyway, onto thrice:

The name of this sweater is a misnomer.

If this sweater pattern does one thing for me, it makes me feel like I just started knitting. The eyelet pattern is written row by row instead of chart form. And you get to a row and it will say "As rows 1-13." So you go to rows 1-13 and in there it says for rows 7-12, "As rows 1-6" Augh! I can't keep track.

Where was I?

Anyway, I did make a chart of my own eventually, but not before wondering a lot of things I won't write out here.

Mixing genres

I got a few odd looks when I whipped out my lucet at McDonald's the other day.

Combining an obscure medieval cording technique with the ubiquitious* Big Mac. Or Quarter Pounder. Take your pick. (Yes, I am calling mass produced food for the masses a genre. That's funny!)

If there is KIP, knitting in public, then this must be LIP, luceting in public. At least nobody gave me that "you are such a grandma" look I get when knitting. Not that I care!

-----
*PS: "Did you bring a pen?" "Well! Don't forget to bring ubiquitious!" hahah--get it?

(is this being lame or just being insane lite?)
