Oh my gosh.. You are wild !
Posted by Cindy at August 19, 2004 01:37 PMI have always wanted one of those, all my life! Let us know how it turns out.
Posted by sarah at August 19, 2004 01:44 PMThat mystery item is a driver pin. It fits in the ribber (see a hole just beside the highest part of the ribber?--it fits in there) and 'causes the tappet plate to revolve with the ribber arm over the dial containing the needles' (copied from my manual). You're lucky to have the driver pin--I had to send away for one.
I love the name plates too!
Posted by P.Melissa at August 19, 2004 04:33 PMI did the same thing and mine's still in it's wooden box. It's a Legare. The whole thing is very daunting. I think it'll take a lot of time and work to get it working so I keep putting it off for another time
Posted by Janet at August 19, 2004 07:07 PMI have one. I inherited from my mom, she left it on a closet shelf for 20 years and now its been on my shelf going on 2 years.
Posted by amy at August 20, 2004 02:00 PMOOOOOOOOOOOOH nifty!!!
Posted by Carrie at August 20, 2004 03:40 PMWicked cool! Reminds me of the old knitting machine that I discovered at my in-laws. I couldn't imagine putting nice yarn through it though. So much metal and oil and stuff going on. Are you really going to use yours?!
Posted by alison at August 20, 2004 03:43 PMIt's an intriguing looking thang, wouldn't know what to do with it though. Good luck with the puzzle.
Posted by Silvia at August 20, 2004 06:34 PMWOW! Thanks for sharing...I may be from under a rock, but I've never heard of one! Must be a nice antique to have though! So I'm guessing it works if all the parts are figured out?
