ouch. Leigh, do you have a PVC niddy noddy? I made one after a fiber artist persuaded me it was the premium mode for blocking yarn. You still have to wait for the thing to dry, but you can wind off that yarn, drop the whole thing into a sink to soak, and then stand it up on its side to dry.
So, what do you make with 70 yds of lovely handspun?
I'm always impatient with my yarn too. I've never tried drying it in the microwave though. I hang my yarn over one of the hot air vents. The shetland is a very nice color.

Posted by Christy at December 21, 2004 02:36 PMhave you tried EZ's fake side seams for knitting in the round? basically you knit in the round just the way you always do. when you're done you drop a single stitch where each side seam would be and do it up again with a crochet hook. the difference though is that every other stitch you do over 2 rows. i've never tried it but it's supposed to make a substantial enough edge to work like a side seam. it's in Knitting Without Tears (and probably a ton of others as well).

Pretty yarn Miss Leigh! : )
Lemony Snicket is on my list ..we go to the movies x-mas day.
I accidentally ended up steeking then sewing up the side seams of my Lillehammer. Gauge. Evil gauge made me do it.
Posted by claudia at December 21, 2004 04:30 PMWe loved the baby, too - how did they get her to be so good all the time??? Your homespun is great - I think I may just have to learn how!
Posted by Jackie at December 21, 2004 04:36 PMWeasley looks great! I had no idea you were so averse to knitting flat. I love flat knitting!
Your spinning sure is lovely.
Posted by alison at December 22, 2004 10:25 AMHey there!
I stop by your site pretty regularly and I just realized something! As I was looking through your posts about Rhinebeck, I saw your picture and realized - you are the VERY nice girl who showed me and my friend Eva how to work a spindle!!! Or at least I am pretty darned sure you are.... We were in the big building with all the yarn (LOL) and roving, etc... (not the stables/stalls - but the big building at the rear of the grounds) and Eva and I were looking at roving and spindles loudly pondering how the heck you put these two together to make yarn - and you and your friend pulled out roving and a spindle and gave us a demo right on the spot!! SO - since I think it WAS you - let me just say - thanks!! We each were so psyched from meeting you guys and getting that info...that we bought wool and spindles and have been spining ever since! Yee! Thought I'd just pass along the good vibes!! :)
Have a Happy and a Merry!
