That is big enough to be a dangerous weapon, mystery friend.
Posted by claudia at May 10, 2005 02:28 PMi never saw one of those before... what's it for?
Posted by anna at May 10, 2005 02:34 PMHey, I'm trying to lube up my wheel today but I can't get the damn honkin' huge can of danish oil open. Waaaaah. Guess I could ask the cute guy at the hardware store to help, but I'm feelin' kind of like a lazy daisy.
That's a GINORMOUS niddy noddy!
Posted by Kerstin at May 10, 2005 02:34 PMstill can't believe ya bought it. you're tooo cute!!!
Posted by carolyn at May 10, 2005 03:19 PMCall me ignorant, but what is the advantage of having different niddy noddies? Can you creat different-sized hanks? Do more than one hank at once?
Posted by Colleen at May 10, 2005 03:39 PMColleen: Exactly right on both counts!
Anna: A niddy noddy is a tool used to wind hanks of yarn off a bobbin or spindle. (I also use mine when ripping out sweaters.) They come in different sizes. I have a very small one for my spindle spinning and a bigger one for the wheel spinning. They make certain length hanks, so you can count the yardage. A very useful tool!
Posted by Leigh at May 10, 2005 03:47 PMThat would be a big, WONDERFUL niddy noddy. And YES. I did know that your other blog was named that.
IMISSYOU
Love the niddy noddy!! I got my first one at the fair - I can't wait to spin enough to actually use it. :)
Posted by Jackie at May 10, 2005 07:44 PMAnyway, there's a difference between "accumulating" things and "collecting" them--the latter implies a deliberate attempt to amass as many as possible, while the former is more an accidental, serendipitous event--you didn't mean to, it just happened! (This is how my library grew . . . books just come into my house, I can't help it!)
Posted by Deb at May 11, 2005 06:09 PMI did not KNOW that. (that your old blog was called Niddy Noddy) I'm just picturing the future archeologists digging up Leigh's site and finding all these odd pieces of wood and wondering what the HECK is this? Kindling? :-)
Posted by Norma at May 12, 2005 12:42 AMToo cool!! My one goal for this weekend at NH S&W is to get a new niddy noddy. I didn't realize that Gil was making some. I will be sure to visit him first!! Your Niddy Noddy is lovely!
